If a comment is received about Bonneville hood flutter while driving, first check for the proper adjustment of the hood latch and the two rubber outboard stops.
If the hood still flutters after proper adjustment follow the steps listed below:
1. Remove the front section retainers of the hood insulator.
2. Check the mastic spots for separation. The mastic is a gum drop like sealer that is used between the hood inner and outer panels.. If the mastic is separated, scrape the old material off both panels being careful not to dent the outer hood panel.
3. Install new mastic drops using 3M hood repair kit #8105 or equivalent at the locations shown in the illustration.
4. Reinstall the hood insulator retainers.
5. Allow the mastic to cure for two hours with the hood latched only on the secondary latch. Do not drive the vehicle with the hood only on the secondary latch.
