SOME 1987 BONNEVILLE MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 3.8L S..F.I. ENGINES (VIN CODES 3)
Some 1987 Bonneville models equipped with a 3.8L SFI engine (VIN Code 3) may experience one or more of the following conditions:

^ Engine will not stay running on the initial start when the engine is cold (with proper fuel pressure and no leak down).

^ Engine intermittently won't stay running on decel under closed throttle conditions (with proper scanner readings and minimum air rate).

^ An intermittent "Service Engine Soon" light with a stored false code 32.

If any of these conditions are experienced on a vehicle when the basic engine, controls and systems are performing properly, and cannot be repaired by using currently published service and diagnostic procedures, it may be necessary to install a new service PROM.
