Caliper Disassembly

1. Remove dampening spring from piston end, Fig. 2.
2. Remove nut and lever assembly.
3. Remove lever seal and anti-friction washer.
4. Place caliper into a soft jaw vise. Place a clean shop towel on inside of caliper, then using compressed air, remove piston from caliper.
5. Press on threaded end of actuator screw, then remove screw.
6. Remove shaft seal and thrust washer.
7. Remove boot from caliper housing bore. Do not use a sharp tool to remove boot from caliper.
8. Inspect piston for wear and damage. Replace caliper, if necessary.
9. If surface corrosion exists on caliper, use crocus cloth to remove corrosion from caliper.
10. Remove bleeder valve and protector.
11. Inspect caliper mounting bracket. If mounting bracket is damaged, replace as required.
