A/T - 125C, 440T4 No Upshift

SUBJECT: 440 T4, 125C

PROBLEM: No upshift

CAUSE: Contamination in governor

SOLUTION:
Clean governor and install a THM 350 governor screen as shown in illustration.




Some 1987 THM 440 T4's and THM 125 C's have a vehicle speed sensor located above the governor. The governor may tend to magnetize on these units because of a magnet located in the coil assembly (see illustration).

Installing a THM 350 governor screen helps prevent any metal contamination from reaching the governor checkballs.

It will be necessary to sand, or grind a small amount of material from the large area of the screen to make it fit.
