1. Base Telltale and Gauge Package
The entire cluster assembly is serviced by an exchange unit only. No repairs should be attempted on these clusters, except bulbs. Exchange cluster assemblies are available from Nippondenso Sales, Inc. The success of the Nippondenso cluster exchange program is dependent upon the prompt return of inoperative clusters to the Nippondenso service center. Your cooperation is essential to maintain sufficient quantities of exchange stock.

Please adhere to the following procedures when a vehicle requires dealer service.
a. Follow the diagnostic procedure in the service manual precisely and completely, using Kent-Moore tool J-33431-B. Proper diagnostics will identify the source of the problem and avoid unnecessary removal and shipping of functional assemblies to the service center. (Call Nippondenso's toll free 800 number if assistance is desired.)
b. When diagnostics are complete, and the fault is determined to be in the cluster, call Nippondenso's service center and request the appropriate unit.

c. After the exchange unit is received from the service center, remove the defective unit from the vehicle. If base cluster (refer to figure), continue to step d. If gauge cluster, remove odometer chip from defective cluster and install in exchange unit. (Except clusters with odometer problem, the exchange unit will contain a new odometer chip.)
NOTE: Take care in handling the odometer chip, grease, oil, and static electricity may damage the chip.
d. Install exchange cluster in vehicle, use care in handling cluster, hands must be free from dirt and grease.
e. Pack the inoperative components previously removed from the vehicle in the reusable shipping container, and enclose the completed information form. Also, enclosed in the reusable container is an addressed shipping label. Attach this label to the outside of the box and ship prepaid to Nippondenso Sales, Inc.
NOTE: Be sure to include a description of the cluster malfunction to assist the service center in isolating the cause.

3. Odometer Chip For Grand Am Gauge Cluster
If a dealership requires only the odometer chip, the chip is available from Nippondenso at a charge of $20.00. There is no core charge for the odometer chip.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Replaced parts are to be shipped postage paid via twenty-four hour delivery, or regular UPS delivery along with the Nippondenso repair order form. A copy of this form must be attached to the warranty repair order.
The dealer will be billed by Nippondenso for the exchange charge and shipping, regardless of warranty or non-warranty. Dealer should pay Nippondenso immediately, and then charge to Pontiac.
Warranty claims should be submitted to Pontiac via warranty document or terminal transmission as follows:

When submitting a warranty claim, the appropriate labor operation should be used along with the service, handling, and shipping charges appearing in the net item column. If replacement parts are exchanged through Nippondenso, or obtained through WDDGM, regular warranty claim submission is requested.
Core Charge for the Nippondenso Cluster is:

The sales invoice will be included with the replacement cluster. The core charge on the sales invoice will be cancelled upon return of the defective part within 30 days. FAILURE to return part within 30 days or FAILURE to return part in the special reusable container provided, will result in the dealer being billed for the core charge by Nippondenso.
