The engine coolant temperature gage contains five indicator or "tick" marks. The first mark is labeled 40 degree C or 100 degree F. The 1/4 mark is not labeled but corresponds to 90 degree C or 190 degree F. The 1/2 mark is not labeled but corresponds to 105 degree C or 220 degree F, and the 3/4 mark corresponds to 115 degree C or 240 degree F. The last indicator mark is labeled 130 degree C or 260 degree F.
Both engines, the 2.0L (VIN K) and the 2.0L (VIN M), use a 90 degree C (190 degree F) engine coolant thermostat. Therefore, the "normal" pointer position for the engine coolant temperature gage is at the 1/4 indicator mark, or slightly higher for normal operating conditions.
