All Wheel Drive (AWD) System
Fig. 20 All Wheel Drive System:
The full time All Wheel Drive (AWD) system provides better directional control and improves traction and handling under most driving conditions, Fig. 20. This vehicle is powered by a V6-189cid (3.1L) MFI engine which is directed through a THM-125C 3-speed automatic transaxle. The transaxle case has been modified to accept the AWD transfer case and also allows use of equal length half shafts. A redesigned cross member has bee installed to allow for the addition space required for tailshaft and power steering rack. With the exception of outer steering links and revised stabilizer bar, the front suspension components are the same as standard front wheel drive models.
