W/Muncie 282 5SPD RWD Transaxle

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove deck lid and louvered panels.

3. Remove engine upper rear support bolt.

4. Install engine support fixture J-28467-A or equivalent.

5. Raise and support vehicle, then remove clutch slave cylinder from clutch and position aside with hydraulic lines attached.

6. Disconnect shift tables from transaxle.

7. Remove rear wheel and tire assemblies.

8. Disconnect EGR valve outlet pipe from exhaust manifold.

9. Disconnect parking brake cables from calipers and vehicle body.

10. Remove lateral control arm/fixed adjusting through bolts.

11. Disconnect trailing arms.

12. Disconnect axle shafts from transaxle.

13. Remove transmission rear bracket mounting bolts.

14. Remove motor mount attaching nuts from cradle and front engine mount shock.

15. Disconnect crossover pipe from catalytic converter.

16. Remove cradle attaching bolt and cradle from engine. Support cradle on suitable adjustable stand.

17. Disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connector, then remove exhaust crossover pipe heat shields and crossover pipe.

18. Remove upper transaxle to engine attaching bolts.

19. Remove clutch inspection cover.

20. Remove lower engine bolt studs, then remove coolant pipe from stud and nut.

21. Remove transaxle from vehicle.

22. Reverse procedure to install.
