Alternator Replacement
Alternator and Bracket:
REMOVAL
1. Remove the negative battery cable.
WARNING: Failure to observe this step may result in an injury from hot battery lead at alternator.
2. Loosen the top alternator bracket to engine bolt.
3. Remove the upper alternator bracket to engine bolts (2).
4. Raise car, remove right rear wheel and splash guards.
5. Disconnect toe link rod outer end and swing up and to the left.
6. Remove the lower alternator bracket to engine bolt.
7. Loosen alternator adjusting bolt and alternator belt.
8. Remove the upper alternator to bracket bolt.
9. Disconnect the battery leads and harness connector at alternator.
10. Rotate the alternator bracket lower end toward engine.
11. Remove the alternator.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the alternator with shield.
2. Connect the battery leads and harness connector at alternator.
3. Install the upper alternator to bracket bolt and alternator adjusting bolt.
4. Rotate alternator and bracket up into position.
5. Install the lower alternator bracket to engine bolt, then lower car.
6. Install the upper alternator bracket to engine bolts (2) and torque to
50 Nm (37 lb ft).
7. Install the top generator bracket to engine bolt and torque to
80 Nm (59 lb ft).
8. Raise car, install alternator belt and adjusting bolt and torque to
27 Nm (20 lb ft).
9. Connect the toe link rod outer end, (do NOT change adjustment).
10. Install the splash guards and the right rear wheel.
11. Lower car, install the Upper generator to bracket bolt and torque to
50 Nm (37 lb ft).
12. Connect the negative battery cable.
