Subject: LOW SPEED SQUEAK OR RUBBING NOISE FROM LEFT FRONT 1988 AND 1989 LEMANS SUSPENSION (UNHOOK/REROUTE CABLE)
Models

Affected: 1988-89 LEMANS
Condition: Low Speed Noise Squeak Or Rubbing Noise from left front suspension. Sound like noisy strut.

Cause: The speedometer cable may be routed incorrectly on automatic transmission vehicles with power steering.

If the cable is routed under the left tie rod, the tie could move up and down and pull the cable over the steel power steering lines that are part of the rack assembly, which causes the squeak.

Correction: Unhook cable at transmission and reroute over left tie rod to correct interference at power steering lines.
