Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Adjustments

SHIFT CONTROL CABLE

1. Remove center console assembly.
2. Loosen cable clamp retaining nut at selector lever, Fig. 1.
3. Adjust cable as necessary, then tighten clamp nut. Ensure that when selector lever is shifted from Park through 1, a clicking can be felt at each position. Also ensure gear selected corresponds to that indicated by the gear position plate.

PARK LOCK CABLE

1. Remove center console assembly and ensure shift control cable is properly adjusted.
2. Remove spring clip and return spring from cable adjuster, Fig. 2.

3. Pull locking pin to release tension.
4. Move selector lever to Park position until pin contacts the catch. Ensure travel ``A,'' Fig. 3, is used during operation. If travel is not used, measure cable length and replace as necessary.
5. Install spring clip and center console assembly.

T.V. CABLE

1. Remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Remove spring clip to release cable tension, Fig. 4.
3. Depress accelerator cable until it contacts kickdown switch, then install cable spring clip. With accelerator depressed, ensure throttle valve is fully open.
