Case Cover
1. Check case cover for damage, cracks, porosity, interconnected passages and damaged threads. Repair or replace if necessary.2. Check vent assembly. If replacement is required, remove vent and install a new one using Loctite or equivalent.
3. Check cooler line connectors for damage. When installing a new one, coat threads with a sealer. Refer to "Torque Specifications Chart" for torque values.

4. Check manual detent spring and roller assembly for damage. Replace if necessary, Fig. 69.
5. Check axle oil seal. Replace oil seal if guard is damaged. To replace seal, remove oil seal from case and install new one using tool axle seal installer tool No. J-26938.
6. Check case cover sleeve. Make sure hole in sleeve aligns with case cover passages that intersect the case cover (pump shaft) bore, Fig. 69.
7. Check manual valve for damage. If replacement is necessary, proceed as follows:

a. Remove case cover electrical connector, then the manual valve. Install new valve, small end first and coat electrical connector O-ring seal with petroleum jelly. Position O-ring seal onto electrical connector and install connector into case cover, making sure locating tab lines up with case slot, Fig. 66.
8. Remove 1-2 accumulator piston and pin. Check for wear or damage.
