Some diagnostic procedures require use of a pressure gauge and Pin-Out Box tool No. J-35592 or equivalent.
1. Install Pin-Out Box tool No. J-35592 or equivalent as follows:
a. Turn ignition switch to the Off position.
b. Depending on model, different procedures are required for EBCM removal. EBCM is either held in with two retainers, three screws, or a twist-type mount. EBCM is located on left side dash close out panel.
c. Remove 35 pin harness connector from EBCM, depress locking plate, then turn toward front of car, Fig. 3.
d. Inspect 35 pin harness connector for damage, then connect pin-out box connector to harness connector.
2. Install pressure gauge as follows:
a. Depressurize accumulator, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/DEPRESSURIZING HYDRAULIC ACCUMULATOR, procedure.
b. Remove accumulator, then install pressure gauge tool No. J-35604-88 or equivalent as shown in Fig. 4. Torque pressure gauge to 32 ft. lbs.
c. Install, then tighten accumulator to pressure gauge. When removing the gauge, inspect O-ring for damage. Replace as necessary.
