Cylinder Head Replacement - Right Side

Head Torque Sequence:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Raise vehicle.
4. Exhaust pipe at crossover.
5. Lower vehicle.
6. Exhaust crossover heat shield.
7. Crossover at right manifold.
8. Spark plug wires at right head.
9. Valve cover.
10. Intake manifold and plenum.
11. Cylinder head bolts.
12. Cylinder head.

INSPECT
^ Cylinder head.

CLEAN
^ Gasket surfaces on the cylinder head.
^ Cylinder block bolt threads.
^ Cylinder head bolts.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Place the gasket in position over the dowel pins with the note "This Side Up" showing.
2. Cylinder head.
3. Coat the cylinder head bolt threads with GM sealer (p/n 1052080) or equivalent, and install bolts.
Tighten
^ Head bolts in sequence to proper torque as illustrated
4. Intake gasket.
5. Pushrods loosely retained with rocker arms (install correct length pushrods).
^ Intake push rods are marked orange.
^ Exhaust pushrods are marked blue.
^ Make sure pushrods seat in lifter.
6. Rocker arm nuts.
7. Intake manifold and plenum.
8. Valve covers.
9. Spark plug wires.
10. Exhaust crossover at right manifold.
11. Crossover heat shield.
12. Raise vehicle.
13. Exhaust at crossover.
14. Lower vehicle.
15. Fill cooling system.
16. Negative battery cable.
