Engine: Service and Repair
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT1. Battery cables
2. Hood
3. Airflow tube at air cleaner and throttle valve
4. Necessary electrical wiring
5. Throttle, T.V., and cruise control cables
6. Relieve fuel line pressure.
7. Fuel lines
8. Crossover pipe
9. Serpentine belt cover and belt
10. Radiator hoses
11. A/C mounting bolts at front mounting bracket
12. Power steering pump from engine and set aside
13. Heater hoses at engine
14. Brake booster vacuum supply line
15. EGR at exhaust
16. Raise vehicle.
17. A/C compressor from engine
18. Flywheel cover
19. Starter
20. Torque converter bolts
21. Transaxle bracket
22. Engine front mount retaining nuts
23. Lower vehicle
24. Bulkhead connector
25. Support transaxle
26. Transaxle bolts
27. Attach lifting device
28. Engine assembly
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Engine assembly
2. Remove lifting device.
3. Transaxle bolts
Tighten
^ Bolts to 75 Nm (55 ft. lb.).
4. Remove transaxle support.
5. Bulkhead connector
6. Raise vehicle.
7. Engine front mount retaining nuts.
Tighten
^ Nuts to 45 Nm (33 ft. lb.)
8. Transaxle bracket.
Tighten
^ Nuts to 45 Nm (33 ft. lb.)
^ Bolts to 55 Nm (41 ft. lb.)
9. Torque converter bolts.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lb.)
10. Starter.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 43 Nm (32 ft. lb.)
11. Flywheel cover.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 12 Nm (107 in. lb.)
12. A/C compressor to engine.
Tighten
^ Bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lb.)
13. Lower vehicle.
14. EGR to exhaust
15. Brake booster vacuum supply line
16. Heater hoses to engine
17. Power steering pump.
Tighten
^ Bracket bolts to 34 Nm (25 ft. lb.)
^ Pump nuts to 32 Nm (24 ft. lb.)
18. A/C mounting bolts to front mounting bracket
Tighten
^ Bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lb.)
19. Radiator hoses
20. Serpentine belt and belt cover
21. Exhaust Crossover pipe
Tighten
^ Bolts to 34 Nm (25 ft. lb.)
22. Fuel lines
23. Throttle, T.V., and cruise control cables
24. Necessary electrical wiring
25. Airflow tube to air cleaner and throttle valve
26. Hood
27. Battery cables
INSPECT
^ Proper fluid levels
^ Leaks
^ Completion of repair
