Models

Affected: 1989 BONNEVILLE MODELS
A condition of windshield streaking from wiper blade kink, caused by contact to the center screw of the lower windshield reveal molding, may be found on some 1989 Pontiac Bonneville models.

This condition occurs due to build variations where the wipers park low and the lower reveal molding is positioned high.

If the wiper is streaking and the blade has a kink caused by parking on the center screw, perform the following repair procedures.

1. Check the center screw in the lower reveal molding. If it is a hex head screw, replace it with a flat head cross drive screw, Part Number 11509083. See Illustration.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
2. Replace driver's side wiper blade.

3. Operate wipers and verify that screw does not kink blade when wiper is parked.

IMPORTANT: Examine the wiper blade at park, it may park over the screw so long as it does not contact the screw. If contact is apparent, remove and reset the wiper arm so that the blade does not contact the screw.

Use existing Labor Op to replace wiper blade; includes replacement screw if necessary.
