Dash Panel Service
1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Turn ignition to the Off position, then remove fuse No. 10 from fuse panel.
4. Disconnect position assurance (CPA) and yellow two-way (SIR) harness connector at base of steering column.
5. Remove shifter handle and seven shift gate trim plate attaching screws.
6. Remove radio and A/C heater controller trim plate.
7. Remove A/C heater controller attaching screws, then pull controller rearward and disconnect electrical connections, vacuum connections and remove heater control cable.
8. Remove four radio retaining screws, then pull radio rearward and disconnect the power, speaker and antenna connectors.
9. Disconnect all console electrical connectors.
10. Remove six console hold down and two console to instrument panel screws and remove console.

11. Remove instrument panel trim pad and hush panels, Figs. 154 through 157.
12. Remove right and left lower instrument panel covers and trim plates, Figs. 158 and 159.
13. Remove six instrument cluster attachment screws, then pull cluster back and disconnect speedometer cable and electrical connections.
14. Remove headlight switch assembly.
15. Lower the steering column, then remove five upper and six lower instrument panel carrier to cowl screws.
16. Disconnect instrument panel electrical harness at bulkhead connector and under dash.
17. Remove instrument panel carrier, Fig. 160.
18. Reverse procedure to install.
19. Reactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
