Idle Air/Vacuum Signal Housing
Idle Air/vacuum Signal Housing:
REMOVAL:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the vacuum harness connector.
3. Disconnect the IAC valve electrical connector.
4. Remove the idle air pipe.
5. Remove the IAC valve assembly and gasket, discard gasket.
6. Remove the idle air/vacuum signal assembly screws.
7. Remove the idle air/vacuum signal housing and gasket, discard gasket.
8. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces.
INSTALLATION:
1. Install the new idle air/vacuum signal assembly gasket.
2. Position idle air/vacuum signal housing assembly in place.
3. Insert idle air/vacuum signal assembly screws, and tighten, starting in the center and moving outward, to 3.4 Nm (30 lb.in).
4. If installing a new IAC valve:
a. Measure the distance between the tip of the IAC valve pintle and the mounting surface.
b. If greater than 28 mm, use finger pressure to slowly retract the pintle. The force required to retract the pintle of a new valve will not cause damage to the valve.
5. Install the IAC valve assembly with a new gasket, and tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb.ft). Use a socket or box wrench on the hex valve.
6. Install the idle air pipe.
7. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector.
8. Connect the vacuum harness connector.
9. Connect the negative battery cable.
10. Reset the IAC valve pintle position:
a. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
b. Turn the ignition switch "OFF" for ten seconds.
c. Start the engine and check for proper idle operation.
