Overdrive Carrier
1. Remove snap ring, four overdrive pinion pins, four overdrive pinions, 16 thrust washers, needle bearings, then the thrust bearing.
2. Inspect overdrive carrier for damaged or worn splines, roller clutch race damage or wear and housing cracks.
3. Inspect pinions for cracked or chipped teeth and bearing surface damage.
4. Inspect pinion thrust washers for scoring or damage.
5. Inspect thrust bearing for pitting or roughness.
6. Install thrust bearing with small diameter facing down. Retain with Transjel.
7. Install 19 needle bearings into each piston. Retain with Transjel.
8. Position bronze and steel thrust washers onto each side of pinions. Retain with Transjel.
9. Install pinions and thrust washers into carrier, then the pinion pins through carrier, thrust washers and pinions.
10. Install snap ring, then measure pinion endplay. Endplay should be 0.009 - 0.025 inch.
