Converter Endplay Measurement

1. Screw upper and lower knurled knobs of tool J-35138, or equivalent, together until the butt against each other. Ensure collet end of tool is not expanded.

2. Insert tool mentioned above into converter hub. Turn upper wing nut clockwise while holding upper knurled knob to expand the collet.

3. Loosen wing nut (approximately 2 1/2 turns), until tool is loose enough to allow upward and downward movement, without allowing removal from converter hub.

4. While holding upper knurled knob, turn lower knob clockwise until tool is clamped onto hub.






5. Attach dial indicator holder No. J-26900-13 and dial indicator No. J-8001 ,or equivalents, so indicator tip contacts center of wing nut as shown.

6. Push upper knurled knob down, zero indicator, then pull lower knob upward and observe endplay on indicator.

7. Maximum allowable endplay should measure 0.023 inch.
