Slipping 3-4 Shift

1. Check for low oil level.

2. Inspect control valve assembly and spacer plate for the following:

a. Spacer plate or gaskets damaged or incorrectly installed.

b. Accumulator valve sticking, causing low 3-4 accumulator pressure.

c. Weak or missing accumulator valve spring.

3. Inspect 3-4 accumulator for the following:

a. Piston stuck.

b. Damaged bore or oil ring.

4. Inspect Center support for the following:

a. Porosity.

b. Loose attaching bolts.

5. Check fourth clutch piston surface or seals for damage.

6. Check for improper fourth clutch plate usage.

7. Check for burned fourth clutch plates.

8. Inspect case for the following:

a. Porosity.

b. 1-2 accumulator housing bolts loose.

c. 3-4 accumulator piston seal damaged.

d. 3-4 accumulator leaking between piston and pin.

e. 3-4 accumulator bore damaged.
