DOOR MOLDING LOOSE/DAMAGED (REPLACE WITH NEW KITS)
Models Affected:
1989-93 GRAND PRIX WITH RPO B4U
CONDITION:
Some 1989-93 Grand Prix Coupes with RPO B4U (Sports Performance Package) may have door aero extension moldings loose at the front and/or damaged due to:
1. Front attachment missing.
2. Molding mislocated or too long.
CORRECTION:
Condition 1: (Missing Attachment)
Vehicle moldings with loose or poor fit at the front, should be inspected for loose or missing front attachment screws. The door molding forward tab attachment kit, P/N 12512887, may be used to improve fit and/or appearance of the molding on these vehicles.
1. Make sure the door glass is in the up position.
2. Open door and remove screws along bottom of molding.
3. Slide molding rearward to disengage end tab at rear edge of molding.
4. Continue to slide molding rearward to completely remove it from the vehicle.
5. Carefully follow instructions in attachment kit P/N 12512887.
NOTICE:
Spraying a lubricant along the upper retainer bracket will ease efforts when sliding the molding back into place on the vehicle.

Labor Operation: T3310 Add Door Molding Front Attachment
Labor Time: 0.6 Hr. Each Side
CONDITION 2: (Molding mislocated or too long)
Replace the molding if it is damaged. Also, replace the molding if it is not at least 3 mm (1/8") shorter in length than the door. Measure length of molding along the top and compare it with a measurement of the door at the same height.
Before installing a replacement door molding kit, P/N's 12513210 RH or 12513211 LH, it will be necessary to carefully review the kit instructions.
Follow above instructions in CONDITION 1 for removal of the molding.
When replacing the door molding it may be necessary to replace and/or relocate the door molding upper bracket on the door.

Labor Operation: T3311 Replace Door Molding
Labor Time: 0.6 Hr. Each Side
Add 1.0 Hr. to replace retaining brackets, each side
Add 0.7 Hr. for painting each molding. Material
allowance AF.
Labor Operation: T3313 Replace Door Molding and Relocate Upper Bracket
Labor Time: 1.3 Hrs. Each Side
Add 0.6 Hr. to replace retaining brackets, each side
Add 0.7 Hr. for painting each molding. Material
allowance AF.
