Some 1988-89 Grand Prix vehicles assembled prior to VIN breakpoint 1G2WK14W9KF206642 may exhibit an audible fuel tank oil canning/popping noise. To eliminate this condition, an interim design change that incorporates additional ribbing to the upper and lower fuel tank sections was initiated.

Vehicles exhibiting this condition may be repaired by replacing the existing fuel tank with a new tank, P/N 10140614, following applicable service manual procedures.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
