Service Procedure
1 . Disconnect negative battery cable. Following applicable Service Manual
procedures and cautionary notices (Section 6C) relieve fuel system pressure and drain fuel from tank.
2. Raise vehicle.
3. Remove exhaust intermediate pipe heat shield.
4. Disconnect vapor line ard utilizing back-up wrench, disconnect fuel feed and return lines at chassis pipes forward of fuel tank. Refer to Illustration.
5. Disconnect fuel fill ard vent hoses at filler neck assembly.
6. Support tank and remove forward tank strap retaining bolts.
7. Lower fuel tank enough to disconnect sending unit wire, hoses and ground strap if so equipped.
8. Remove tank from vehicle.
9. Utilizing back-up wrench disconnect fuel return pipe assembly from serder assembly, remove pipe from isolation grommets.
10. Install new pipe assembly (P/N 10062887) and connect to sender assembly utilizing backup wrench on fitting. Torque fitting to 26 N-m (19 lbs.ft.).
NOTICE:
Check all O-Rings at disconnected fittings for cuts or damage and replace if necessary.
11. Reverse removal procedure and reinstall fuel tank ensuring isolation grommets and pads are positioned properly on fuel tank.
12. Reinstall negative battery cable and air cleaner.
13. Start vehicle and inspect for possible fuel leaks and correct as required.
14. Install Campaign Identification Label.
