Lo-Reverse Clutch Rattle/Clicking
Rattle/Clicking in 3rd Gear (New Smooth Surface Fiber Plates)

COMPLAINT:

An intermittent rattle and/or clicking noise caused by Lo-Reverse parallel grooved fiber plates in 1989 THM 125C/Hydra-matic 3T40 transaxles. This noise is most evident in the 3rd gear range.

CURE:




The Lo-Reverse fiber plates should be replaced with new smooth surface fiber plates. (See Figure 1) When ordering new Lo-Reverse fiber plates for this condition, refer to the following part numbers:
