Subject: SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE - ON-VEHICLE PRESSURE TESTING FOR ALUMINUM-PLASTIC RADIATOR

Models
Affected: 1989 LEMANS
This service bulletin cancels and replaces the first paragraph of "On-Vehicle Pressure Testing" found on page 6B-7 in the engine cooling section of the 1989 Pontiac Le Mans Service Manual.

Pressure test the aluminum-plastic radiator with a common pump and gage, such as a BT 7518 or a J 24460-01 and a J 36649. With the system at a cool temperature, remove the recovery tank cap, connect the gage and apply normal system operating pressure. Do not exceed 20 psi (138 kPa). Watch the gage needle for any indication of leakage, and examine the radiator and other cooling system parts for signs of escaping coolant.
