Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Description and Operation


This sensor is a dual purpose sensor providing both barometric pressure (BARO) and manifold pressure (MAP) readings. With the key on before the engine is started the ECM uses this information for altitude and weather compensation. Once the engine is started the ECM uses the MAP information to determine engine load and is used for spark advance and fuel calculations.
