Roller Clutch and Rear Carrier
1. Disassemble roller clutch race, roller clutch and thrust washer.
2. Inspect roller clutch race for pitting scoring or heat damage.
3. Inspect roller clutch for missing rollers or springs, wear or damage.
4. Inspect thrust washer for scoring, pitting or damage.
5. Inspect tanged thrust washer and bushing for pitting, scoring or damage.
6. Check rear carrier pinion endplay. Rear carrier pinion endplay should measure 0.009 - 0.027 inch.
7. Inspect pinions for rough bearings and cracked or chipped teeth.
8. Assemble thrust bearing, roller clutch and roller clutch race, with splines facing up, into rear carrier.
9. Assemble tanged thrust washer onto rear, using Transjel or equivalent, to retain in position.
10. Assemble rear carrier assembly into rear internal gear.
11. Install output shaft and rear unit support fixture J-25013 and output support fixture J-29332 or their equivalents.
12. Install output shaft assembly into case, then align parking pawl and parking pawl lugs. Use alignment tool J-29332 or equivalent, to align internal gear parking lugs flush with the parking pawl.
