Oil Leak
1. Inspect oil pan for the following:a. Bolts incorrectly torqued.
b. Improperly installed or damaged pan gasket.
2. Inspect filler pipe for damaged or missing multi-lip seal.
3. Ensure filler pipe bracket is positioned correctly.
4. Inspect throttle valve cable for damaged, missing or improperly installed lip seal.
5. Check for damaged or improperly installed rear seal assembly.
6. Check for damaged speedometer driven gear O-ring seal.
7. Inspect manual shaft for damaged or improperly installed lip seal.
8. Inspect case for the following:
a. Leaking line pressure tap plug.
b. Leaking 4th clutch pressure tap plug.
c. Porosity.
9. Check for damaged intermediate servo O-rings.
10. Inspect oil pump for the following:
a. Leaking front pump seal.
b. Loose front pump attaching bolts or damaged or missing bolt seal.
c. Damaged or cut front pump housing O-ring.
d. Porous casting.
e. Converter weld area.
f. Foreign matter between pump and case or between pump cover and body.
g. Pump to case gasket improperly positioned.
h. Pump shy of stock on mounting faces.
i. Breather hole plugged in pump cover.
11. Inspect vent pipe for signs of the following:
a. Transmission overfilled.
b. Water in oil.
c. Vent pipe plugged.
12. Check for incorrect fluid level indicator.
