System Response/Operation:

DESCRIPTION

The heater and A/C control assembly incorporates short-travel, soft-touch switches for selecting the mode, temperature, and blower speeds, as desired. A display shows the outside temperature (when selected), the user-set temperature, the operating mode, blower speed, and air flow direction. A Fahrenheit (F)/Celsius (C) switch enables the selection of English or metric temperature display units.

OPERATION

The heater and A/C control assembly utilizes a microprocessor which operates on information such as (1) the operating mode(s) selected by the user, (2) the set temperature, and (3) the in-vehicle and outside air temperature readings provided by the sensors.

The microprocessor also provides for system self-tests which result in diagnostic codes being displayed. Faults in the inside and outside temperature sensor circuits and temperature valve control circuit are identified when the control assembly is set to the diagnostic mode. If the ECC system does not have an identifiable fault, a 00 code will be displayed.
