Instrument Cluster Replacement

Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING prior to working on or near the steering column. After completion of repairs, rearm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. On models with tilt wheel, place wheel in lowest position.
3. On all models, place selector lever in position ``1.''
4. lightly pry around perimeter of trim plate, then remove trim plate.
5. Remove IP trimplate, then the speaker, side defogger and defroster grilles.
6. Remove speaker attaching screws and electrical connectors.
7. Remove I/P pad.
8. Remove 5 attaching screws, Fig. 30, then disconnect PRNDL cable from steering column bowl.
9. Remove instrument cluster.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
