Disassembly

Fig. 17, Transaxle case components:





Refer to Fig. 17 for transaxle case components and special tool usage application.
Tools J-8092, J-23907, J-26941, J-36027, J-36029, J-36032, J-36034, J-36039 and J-36190 are required to conduct the following procedure. Remove bearings and bushings only if there is evidence of damage or if a mate part is being replaced.

1. Remove snap ring (210) and plug (209).
2. Remove screw (205), spring (206) and sliding sleeve (207).
3. Remove bushing (95) sliding sleeve, using tools J-36034 and J-36190 (view A , Fig. 17).
4. Remove detent lever (145).
5. Remove bushing (96) shift detent lever, using tools J-36039 and J-36190 (view C, Fig. 17).
6. Remove seal (97) shift shaft, using tools J-36027 and J-36190 (view A, Fig. 17).
7. Remove axle seal (23).
8. Remove outer race (59), differential carrier support using tool J-26941 and J-23907 (view B, Fig. 17).
9. Remove plugs (204).
10. Remove bearing (93), input shaft support.
11. Remove bearing (86), output shaft support.
12. Remove bushings (99), shift rail, using tools J-36029 (small end of second adapter in bushing) and J-36190 (view C, Fig. 17).
13. Remove bushing (98), using tools J-36032 and J-23907 or drive bushing downward and pull out through the backup lamp switch bore.
14. Remove stud (211).

Inspection
Inspect all components for excessive wear and/or damage. Replace worn and/or damaged components as required.
