Subject:
POWER WINDOW AND POWER DOOR
LOCK BUTTONS MAY CRACK
(REPLACE WITH NEW BUTTONS)

Models Affected:
1990-91 GRAND PRIX SEDAN ONLY

Condition:

The power window and power door lock buttons on the 1990-91 Grand Prix sedan may crack or deteriorate.

Cause:

The process by which the buttons were made may cause the buttons to deteriorate over time. Sunlight could make the condition worse. The process was changed, and new buttons went into production in April of 1991.

Correction:

A kit, P/N 10220687, has been released containing two power door lock buttons and seven power window buttons.

The buttons can be replaced without removing the switches from the doors. To replace the buttons, use a tool such as a small screwdriver to gently push in the side of the old button, which allows it to pop out. Make sure the small springs stay in place. Then snap the new button in place.

Part Availability:

Parts are expected to be available on April 27, 1992. In case of limited inventory, parts will be placed on 400 control to waive VIP surcharges. Only verifiable emergency VIP orders will be accepted. SPO will make every effort to obtain parts. However, the part will be shipped premium transportation at dealer's expense and all other order types will be placed on backorder until the 400 control is removed.
