Subject: 1988-90 SUNBIRD MODEL J37 QUARTER WINDOW REVEAL MOLDINGS LOOSE OR MISSING (APPLY URETHANE OR HOT MELT ADHESIVE Models TO WELD STUD)

Affected: 1988-90 SUNBIRD MODELS

The quarter window reveal moldings on some Pontiac Sunbird J37 coupes may become loose or missing. Until final design changes can be made, assembly plants are providing a reliable attachment effective with vehicles built after December 5, 1989.

The correction of vehicles in the field consists of applying urethane or hot melt adhesive to the forward weld stud, loading the molding and then pushing it to the rear. The technician should then determine that the molding is positively retained by all the molding clips. Urethane and hot melt adhesives currently available in the dealership are acceptable for the operation.
