1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove horn pad and disconnect horn lead.
3. Remove nut and retainer, mark shaft and wheel for assembly reference.
4. Using steering wheel puller tool No. J-3651 or equivalent, remove steering wheel.
5. If necessary remove contact ring from steering wheel.
6. Using a pointed plastic tool, pry package panel out of console.
7. Remove two screws from under ashtray.
8. On models with automatic transmission, pull gear selector lever off. Pull out indicator strap from cover, then remove retaining clips and cover.
9. On models with manual transmission, remove shift knob, trim plate and boot.
10. On all models, remove front center console, Fig. 187.
11. Remove two attaching screws, then pull center back and out,Fig. 188.
12. Remove right side hush panel, Fig. 189.
13. Open glove box door and pry off two retaining straps.
14. Remove two screws attaching glove box to instrument panel pad.
15. Remove A/C or heater control.
16. Turning steering wheel to gain access to turn signal switch housing attaching screws, remove turn signal switch housing.
17. Remove instrument panel trim plate, then remove dimmer switch from trim plate.
18. While pressing down on speedometer cable retainer spring, pull out speedometer cable.
19. Remove instrument cluster attaching screws, pull cluster rearward and disconnect electrical connectors.
20. Remove cluster from instrument panel.
21. Remove instrument panel center section.
22. Remove air nozzles and air vents from instrument panel.
23. Remove fuse box, disconnect wiring harness from all switches and lamps.
24. Disconnect wiring harness from instrument panel.
25. Remove six instrument panel screw on panel and remove instrument panel.
26. Reverse procedure to install.
