Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

Fig. 2 Intake Manifold Tightening Sequence:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove air cleaner.
2. Disconnect PCV valve and hose at TBI unit, then drain cooling system.
3. Disconnect fuel line and all vacuum hoses that will interfere with manifold removal. Refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/RELIEVING FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE for fuel pressure bleed procedure.
4. Disconnect all electrical connections and throttle linkage from TBI unit.
5. Disconnect downshift and cruise control linkage, if applicable.
6. Disconnect throttle linkage and TV cables, position cables aside.
7. Disconnect heater hose.
8. Remove intake manifold attaching bolts, then the intake manifold.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Torque bolts to specification in sequence shown in Fig. 2.
