Park/Neutral Switch & Connector:

1. Remove negative battery cable, shift linkage, electrical connector, mounting bolts, and switch.
2. Replacement using old switch.
a. Place shift shaft in NEUTRAL.
b. Align flats of shift shaft with switch.
c. Install mounting bolts-to-case, loosely.
d. Insert gauge pin in service adjustment hole, and rotate switch until pin drops into a depth of 9.0 mm (9/64") and tighten bolts (see SPECIFICATIONS/MECHANICAL for torque values).
3. Replacement using new switch.
a. Place shift shaft in NEUTRAL.
b. Align flats of shift shaft with switch.
c. Install mounting bolts and tighten. If bolt holes do not align with mounting boss on transaxle, verify that the shift shaft is in NEUTRAL; DO NOT rotate the switch. The switch is pinned in the NEUTRAL position.
NOTE: If the switch has been rotated and the pin is broken, the switch can be adjusted using the old switch (see #2) procedure.
4. See ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES for PARK/NEUTRAL switch adjustment.
5. After the switch is installed, verify that the engine will start only in PARK (A/T) or NEUTRAL (M/T). If the engine starts in any other position, readjust the switch using old switch (see #2) procedure.
