These vehicles use a one speed, 12 volt, DC permanent magnet motor, Fig. 52. The motor drives a gearbox which in turn drives a wiper pivot that provides an oscillating output to the arm and blade.
The system operates only with the ignition in Run position, but will park if the ignition is turned off.
There are three electrical terminals on the motor, Fig. 53. Terminals A, B and C are used when the motor is in Run mode. A and C are positive and B is ground.
When wiper switch is set to OFF, only motor terminals A and B are used, with A being positive and the circuit being completed through the closed park switch terminals. A cam on the gear then opens at Park position and the wiper shuts off.
The autopark module supplies power to the rear wiper motor to allow the wiper arm to park if the ignition switch is turned off while the wiper is operating.
