Fuel Block Assembly
Fuel Rail Assembly:
REMOVAL:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
3. Remove the intake manifold plenum, refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD PLENUM.
NOTE: Clean around the fuel pressure connection, fuel block, and the fuel line connections with GM X-30A or equivalent.
4. Remove the fuel pressure connection and seal, discard the seal.
5. Disconnect the fuel feed and return lines.
6. Remove the O-rings, and discard.
7. Remove the fuel block attaching screws.
8. Remove the fuel block and seal, discard the seal.
9. Clean the fuel block sealing surfaces.
INSTALLATION:
1. Install a new fuel block seal.
2. Install the fuel block.
3. Install the fuel block attaching screws and tighten to 5.0 Nm (44.0 lb.in).
4. Install a new seal on the fuel pressure connection.
5. Install the fuel pressure connection in the fuel block, and tighten to 13.0 Nm (115 lb.in).
6. Install new O-rings on the fuel feed and return lines.
7. Connect the fuel feed and return lines, and tighten the fuel line nuts to 27.0 Nm (20.0 lb.ft).
8. Check for fuel leaks:
a. Temporarily connect the negative battery cable.
b. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position for two seconds, then turn to the OFF position for ten seconds. Again turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and check for fuel leaks.
c. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
9. Install the intake manifold plenum.
10. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
