Idle Air/Vacuum Signal Housing

Throttle Body Assembly:

Idle Air/Vacuum Signal Housing:

REMOVAL:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the vacuum harness connector.
3. Disconnect the IAC valve electrical connector.
4. Remove the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve.
5. Remove the Idle Air/vacuum signal housing screws.
6. Remove the Idle Air/signal housing assembly and gasket, discard the gasket.

CAUTION: Use care in cleaning old gasket material from machined aluminum surfaces. Sharp tools may damage sealing surfaces. Clean the gasket mounting surfaces to ensure a good seal.

INSTALLATION:

1. Install a new idle air/vacuum signal housing gasket.
2. Install the idle air/vacuum signal housing assembly.
3. Install the idle air/vacuum signal housing screws and tighten to 3.4 Nm (30 lb.in), starting in the center and moving outward.

NOTE: If installing a new IAC valve, measure the distance between the tip of the IAC valve pintle and the mounting flange. If greater than 28 mm , use finger pressure to slowly retract the pintle. The force required to retract the pintle of a new valve will not cause damage to the valve.

4. Lubricate the IAC valve O-ring with clean engine oil.
5. Install the IAC valve assembly.
6. Install the attaching screws, and tighten to 3.0 Nm (27.0 lb.in).
7. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector.
8. Connect the vacuum harness connector.
9. Connect the negative battery cable.
10. Reset the IAC valve pintle position:
a. Turn the ignition ON for five seconds.
b. Turn the ignition OFF for ten seconds.
c. START the engine and check for proper idle operation.
