Clutch Replace

1. Support engine and remove transmission as outlined under "Transmission, Replace." Refer to "Transmission Replace".

2. Remove slave cylinder heat shield and cylinder from flywheel housing. Prior to removing slave cylinder, disconnect push rod from clutch master cylinder.

3. Remove flywheel housing.

4. Slide clutch fork from ball stud and remove fork from dust boot. Look for X mark on flywheel and on clutch cover. If X mark is not evident, prick punch marks on flywheel and clutch cover for indexing purposes during installation.

5. Loosen clutch to flywheel attaching bolts evenly one turn at a time until spring pressure is released. Then remove bolts and clutch assembly.

6. Reverse procedure to install. Prior to installation, lubricate pilot bearing sparingly with machine oil. Also apply wheel bearing lubricant 1051344 or equivalent to clutch fork ball socket and fingers and release bearing collar recesses. Use a suitable pilot tool to center clutch disc. Tighten clutch cover bolts evenly and gradually to avoid distorting cover. Final torque is 30 ft. lbs.
