Setting Radio Anti-Theft Feature

The digital unit (CD), is equipped with a theft deterrent which, when enabled, causes the unit to be inoperative should it be removed from the vehicle.
The theft deterrent is enabled (SECURE mode) by entering a user-selected code into the unit. This code must be re-keyed into the unit following any interruption of battery voltage to resume normal operations. If the correct code is not entered, the unit will be inoperable and will be in the LOCKED mode.

The theft deterrent is enabled by the following sequence of operations:
1. Depress presets 1 (PREV) and 4 (FF) for 5 seconds with IGN on and radio power off. The display will show "---" indicating the unit is not in the secure mode.
2. Depress the SET button. The display will indicate "000."
3. The first three digits (0-999) of the user code are entered by depressing the top and bottom of the SEEK pushbutton. Depressing the top of the button will cause the left two digits to increment at a rate of approximately 5 counts per second. Similarly, depressing the bottom of the SEEK pushbutton will cause the two right digits to increment. The display will show the numbers as entered.
4. Depress the AM/FM pushbutton. The display will show "000. "(The selected code will not be shown.)
5. Enter the second three digits of the code according to Step 3.
6. Depress the AM/FM button to enter the second three digits. The display will now show "REP" indicating that some steps are to be repeated for verification.
7. This is the first step of the verification sequence. Reenter the first three digits according to Step 3. The first three digits will be displayed.
8. Depress the AM/FM button. The display will show "000."
9. Repeat Step 5 to reenter the second three digits. The second three digits will be displayed.
10. Depress the AM/FM button. If the display shows "SEC," the verification was successful and the system is in the SECURE mode. If the display shows " - - -," the verification steps were not successful and the entire sequence must be started anew.
