Rocker Arm Cover - Right
Roker Arm Cover:
Remove or Disconnect
1. Air cleaner assembly.
2. Negative battery cable.
3. Drain and recover coolant. For additional procedures refer to Cooling System / Service and Repair / Draining and Refilling. Service and Repair
4. Brake booster vacuum line at bracket.
5. Cable bracket at plenum.
6. Vacuum line bracket at cable bracket.
7. Lines at generator bracket stud.
8. Rear generator brace.
9. Serpentine belt.
10. Generator and support aside.
11. PCV valve.
12. Rocker arm cover bolts.
13. Plug wires.
14. Rocker arm cover.
NOTE If cover adheres to cylinder head, remove by bumping end of rocker arm cover with palm of hand or soft rubber mallet.
15. Clean sealing surface on cylinder head and valve cover with degreaser.
Install or Connect
1. New gasket and new bolt grommets.
NOTE Make sure gasket is seated properly in valve cover groove.
2. Sealer, GM P/N 1052917 or equivalent in notch.
3. Rocker arm cover and tighten bolts to 10 Nm (89 lbs. in.).
4. Plug wires.
5. PCV valve to rocker cover.
6. Generator.
^ Torque generator brace bolt ( to generator ) and generator upper attaching bolt to 25 Nm ( 18 ft. lb. )
^ Torque generator brace bolt ( to engine ) and generator lower attaching bolt to 47 Nm ( 35 ft. lb. )
7. Serpentine belt.
8. Rear generator brace.
9. Lines at generator bracket stud.
10. Vacuum line bracket at cable bracket.
11. Cable bracket at plenum.
12. Brake booster vacuum line at bracket.
13. Negative battery cable and torque bolt to 15 Nm ( 11 ft.lb. ).Refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction / Service and Repair / Idle Learn Procedure. Service and Repair
14. Air cleaner assembly.
15. Inspect for proper fluid levels, oil leaks, and completion of repair.
