Wheel Bearing: Adjustments
REAR WHEEL BEARINGS ADJUSTMENT1. Raise and support rear of vehicle.
2. Remove hub dust cap, then the spindle nut cotter pin and nut.
3. Torque spindle nut to 18 lb ft while turning wheel assembly forward by hand.
4. Back off spindle nut until just loose, then hand-tighten the nut.
5. Loosen spindle nut until either hole in spindle aligns with slot in nut, then install new cotter pin. Do not loosen nut more than 1/2 turn.
6. Ensure bearing endplay measures .001 to .005 inch, then install dust cap on hub.
