1. Raise and support front of vehicle. Support vehicle on suitable jackstands placed under frame.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Disconnect stabilizer bar from control arm.
4. Install modified outer seal protector J-28712 or equivalent.
5. Remove ball joint retaining clip and stud nut, then separate ball joint from steering knuckle using tool No. J-36226 or equivalent. Disregard ``This Side Towards Wheel'' marking on tool. Tool must be turned to opposite position when used on these vehicles.
6. Remove control arm attaching bolts and the control arm.
7. If necessary, replace control arm bushings as shown in Figs. 4 through 7.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten attachments to torque listed under SPECIFICATIONS/MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS/TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS.
