Assemble piston to rod, with notch on piston head toward front of engine, Fig. 9. Upon installation, measure rod bearing side clearance using a suitable feeler gauge. On 1989 models, rod bearing side clearance should be .0027-.0095 inch. On 1990-92 models, rod bearing side clearance should be .0028-.0095 inch.
