Owner Letter

May, 1993

Dear Pontiac Owner:

General Motors has determined that certain 1992 Pontiac SSEI and SSE model vehicles equipped with Inside Automatic Day/Night Mirror and Driver/Passenger Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) Systems have an inside rearview mirror which may break at the attachment ball socket neck area. Breaking may occur during manual mirror adjustment if forced beyond normal adjustment range.

The inside rearview mirror was designed to "break away" during passenger side SIR deployment.

WHAT WE WILL DO

To prevent this condition from occurring on your vehicle, your Pontiac dealer will install an improved replacement inside rearview mirror with a clip on attachment design that still provides desired performance during SIR deployment. Tbis service will be performed for you at no charge.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Please contact your Pontiac dealer as soon as possible to arrange an appointment and so the dealer may order the necessary parts for the repair.

Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your Pontiac Dealer. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much time will be needed to schedule and process your vehicle.

Your Pontiac dealer is best equipped to obtain parts and provide service to ensure that your vehicle is corrected as promptly as possible. We suggest that you go to your selling or servicing dealer, but you may select any Pontiac Dealer.

The enclosed Owner Reply Card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction in the shortest possible time. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by cotppleting the postage paid Owner Reply Card and returning it to us.

We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products.
