Brake Light Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE

The brake switch signals the PCM to turn "OFF" the torque converter clutch and/or the cruise control when the brakes are applied.

OPERATION

The brake switch actually contains two switches. Both portions of the switch are normally closed and open when the brakes are applied. This interrupts power to the "cruise brake" input terminal of the PCM, and interrupts the power supply to the TCC solenoid inside the transaxle.
