BATTERY INTERMITTENTLY GOES DEAD/WINDOWS OPERATE AFTER DOOR OPENED (REPLACE WITH NEW BTSI SOLENOID)
Models Affected:
1992 BONNEVILLE MODELS WITH COLUMN SHIFT ONLY
CONDITION:
Some vehicles may experience an intermittent dead battery or the power windows may operate after the door has been opened with the ignition key removed from the vehicle.
CAUSE:
A voltage spike from the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock Solenoid (BTSI) may cause the contacts of the number two RAP (Retained Accessory Power) relay to stick closed.
CORRECTION:
A new BTSI solenoid, Part Number 26036913, has been released for service. The new solenoid can be identified by the part number stamped into the outer surface of the part. Refer to the service manual for the correct installation and adjustment procedure. The RAP 2 relay located in Position "J" of the relay center should also be replaced since the contacts may be pitted. Use the relay that is listed in the current parts catalog.
