Subject: HEADREST TRIM COMES LOOSE (STAPLE THROUGH PLASTIC INTERLOCKING STRIPS)
Models
Affected: 1992 BONNEVILLE MODELS
CONDITION:
The headrest material on some 1992 Bonneville models may come loose allowing the foam to show causing a poor appearance.
CORRECTION:
To correct this condition, the following steps should be followed:
1. Remove the headrest assembly from the seat using Tool J-38530 or equivalent.
Figure 1:
2. Hook the interlocking strips together on the underside of the headrest. (See Figure 1)
3. Using a staple gun with 3/8" staples, staple through the plastic interlocking strips on the underside of the headrest to assure they do not separate again. Install three staples spaced about two inches apart.
4. Place the headrest back into the seat with the stapled plastic strip side toward the rear of the car.
Note: To check for correct installation of the headrest, pull up on the headrest to assure that it is not able to be pulled out of the seat easily. The headrest should stop at the maximum height adjustment. If the headrest pulls out of the seat easily, the headrest must be turned around. Repeat the test to assure proper operation.
